Low-maintenance reference guide for automation-assisted pools.

Pool Name

Weekly Tasks

  • Test & Balance Water Chemistry — pH, free chlorine, alkalinity
  • Empty Skimmer & Pump Baskets — Clear debris to maintain proper flow
  • Skim Surface — Quick pass for leaves and floating debris
  • Check Automatic Cleaner — Empty bag or canister as needed
  • Visual Equipment Inspection — Pump, filter gauge, water level

Monthly Tasks

  • Shock Treatment — Super-chlorinate after dusk; more often with heavy use or storms
  • Clean Filter — Backwash or rinse when pressure rises 8–10 PSI above baseline
  • Test Calcium Hardness & CYA — Calcium 200–400 ppm, CYA 30–50 ppm
  • Add Specialty Chemicals — Algaecide, clarifier, stain & scale preventer
  • Inspect Salt Cell — Check for scale buildup; clean only if needed — over-cleaning shortens cell life

Seasonal Tasks

  • Lubricate O-Rings — Silicone-based lubricant on pump, filter, and valve O-rings
  • Clean Tile & Water Line — Remove calcium and grime buildup
  • Check Bolts & Hardware — Ladders, rails, diving board, and slide mounts
  • Deep Clean or Replace Filter Media — Chemical soak for cartridges; replace sand/DE if due
